A power generation company intends to establish a 16-megawatt waste-to-energy project in Palawan, where solid wastes and even wastewater are converted into electricity.

Billy Zhang of Alzet Power Corporation said that he will visit Puerto Princesa City Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron this week to discuss the possibility of a joint venture project.

Alzet Power Corporation is one of two commercially-sized and certified patented Non Incineration Waste-to Energy-power companies in the world.

Zhang said that their recent upgraded technologies and facility now allows more flexible feedstock. Their technology will not process solid wastes only but also polluted sludge or wastewater.

“We can do Municipal Solid Waste, plastics, rubber, dried sludge even polluted sludge like in Manila Bay or Pasig River we can take dry, or up to 35 percent moisture content then through our process create more energy by mixing the garbage and turn the heavy metals, toxins, chemicals, PCB’S, arsenic, mercury, etc into an inert gas that at 4200 degrees is consumed with our sync gas with no poisonous emissions and no hazardous waste material,” he said in an email to Palawan Daily News.

Their feedstock requirement is some 500 tons of solid wastes of day, or equivalent to three days of municipal solid wastes generated in Puerto Princesa City’s households at 175 tons per day.

“With 500 tons of solid waste a day we can produce more than 16 MW. We will bring the finance, technologies and EPC Siemens for building the power plants,” he said.

Zhang further explained that their partner local government unit will provide the area, and the solid wastes as feedstock for a period of 25 years. Their company also seek partnership with private companies for the establishment of power plant projects.

Their company has existing solar, wind, hydro, geothermal projects in different parts of the world. They also have existing waste-to-energy power plants in South America, North America, and India. This time they seek for joint venture projects in Asian countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Dubai, Cambodia, Laos, and the Philippines.
