The City Government has suspended all the domestic sea travel of vessels that carry passengers from and to Puerto Princesa from March 15, Sunday, to April 14, Tuesday, in a bid to arrest the threat of Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).

In the document posted around 5 p.m. Friday by City Information Officer Richard Ligad on his official Facebook account, it noted that this notice is relative to President Rodrigo Duterte’s Proclamation No. 322.

Signed by Mayor Lucilo Bayron, this official notice was released Friday, March 13, 2020.

“…there is a need to suspend all domestic sea travel of vessels carrying passengers to and from Puerto Princesa to provide an enabling environment for the observance of proper social distance between and among all concerned…,” said Bayron in the letter.

Bayron in the letter further stated that the City Health Department of Puerto Princesa is strongly advising “social distancing” to stop the spread of the virus.

Bayron however noted that cargo vessels are exempted from the suspension.
