169 fisherfolks with their families from Mindoro were already sent home after being cleared by quarantine facility doctors, said the incident commander of Puerto Princesa Task Force for COVID-19.
Dr. Dean Palanca, Puerto Princesa Task Force for COVID-19 Incident Commander, told Palawan Daily News (PDN) Thursday this was after these fisherfolks did not manifest any COVID-19 symptoms throughout their 14-day quarantine.
Dr. Palanca said there are 180 fisherfolks — including their families — from Mindoro who completed their 14-day quarantine at the PUM Quarantine Facility in Barangay Irawan on May 19.
However, Palanca said while 169 were cleared, there are 11 who showed symptoms.
He said these 11 individuals were transferred to the city’s PUI Quarantine Facility for further treatment and monitoring.
Palanca further stated that while all the 180 fisherfolks underwent rapid diagnostic test (RDT) last week and resulted negative, 11 manifested symptoms afterwards and were not issued health clearance by quarantine facility doctors.
Palanca added they are still waiting for the result of the RT-PCR test of these 11 persons as of the press time.
