Charina Cabading-Josol, the former Palawan Provincial Government Employee who spearheaded the Culture and Arts program, is now the latest sensation in the online community of Palawenos as music content creator showcasing her powerful vocal chords, making her versions of some notable hit songs upon her likes and request by her close friend.

Only this March 2021 Charina ventured in creating content as encouraged by her husband Gene who helped her shoot and edit her videos. For her it’s just fun with no expectations but to her surprise, many are moved and inspired by her willingness to share her talent even at the age of 46.

“Part ko na ang music or singing since bata ako so ‘pag nami-miss ko ang music, nagsi-sing along kami ni Gene and Gerard sa house. Lockdown po no’n eh. But sabi ni hubby one time, he’s gonna support me to start my own music youtube channel so we can share my talent to others, especially to our family and friends. No expectations daw, just enjoy it. Nakatago lang daw kasi boses ko,” Chari said.

A consistent valedictorian from East Central School and Palawan National School, Chari admitted she is not a “suki” of singing contest way back then, but her exposure in private and government service made her an instant intermission or doxology performances in many events, and to harness her singing prowess, she even enrolled at Ryan Cayabyab music school to gain proper training in singing.

In the future, Chari wants to do her versions of some well loved local songs in Palawan like Ploning, she is also open for collaborations with other music content creators.

“Proud akong kantahin and mga awiting sariling atin, gustong gusto ko ang “Ploning” na naawit ko na din sa isang event. Noon, may Choral Group Contest sa elementary school, “Petrona” ‘yun isa sa songs namin at di ko malilimutan sa galing ng pagturo si Mrs. Colongon, may solo part din po ako at nanalo naman kami sa contest.  Nasa puso ko ang musikang sariling atin bilang isang Palaweña,” Chari added.

After retiring in Government service, Chari concentrated in putting up her very own personal business, the La Charica Inn and Suites located along Abad Santos st. She is also active in real estate business developing the soon to rise Carmen hills in Brgy. Bacungan also here in Puerto Princesa. Since 2019 she is based in Metro Manila to concentrate as mom to her son Gerard and wife to Gene.

“Mga personal choices ko usually ‘yung mga song na ini-interpret ko. Each song has its own story and inspiration in a certain chapter of my life. I express or let my emotions out thru music like magtanggal ng stress, mag-relax, ma-motivate, mag-praise and worship, ma-inspire, ma-kilig, ma-sad, magsaya, etc. Sobrang powerful ng musika. Nailalabas n’ya ‘yung iba’t iba mong emosyon ‘pag pinakikinggan mo sya. It can move you and other people around,” Chari explained.
