The Department of Health (DOH) in the region clarified Wednesday that it is still waiting for the Research Institute and Tropical Medicine (RITM) to release the laboratory result of the Palawan’s person under investigation (PUI) for COVID-19.

DOH regional director, Dr. Mario Baquilod told Palawan Daily News (PDN) Wednesday RITM is presently accommodating a lot of tests for PUIs since DOH raised its alert system for COVID-19 into “code red”.

“Ganoon din po naghihintay din kami. Wala pa rin. Talagang we are relying sa RITM ngayon. Talagang punung-puno sila, kasi noong mag-declare tayo ng Code Red ay talagang dumami ‘yong PUI,” said Baquilod.

DOH raised Saturday its COVID-19 Alert System to Code Red after the first case of localized transmission was confirmed. Baquilod also made clear that there is no report on additional PUI in the province aside from this one, whose result is yet to be released by the RITM.

In the official Facebook page of DOH MIMAROPA sent to the media Wednesday, they noted three PUIs in the region as of March 11, one PUI each in the provinces of Palawan, Marinduque, and Romblon.

The country has a total of 33 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 730 PUIs as of the press time, the DOH in the region included in its report.
