The Commission on Elections approved on September 29, 2021, the extension of the period for the registration of voters to 30 October 2021.
The COMELEc en banc approved the extension of voters’ registration from the earlier deadline of 30 September 2021. However, it will be suspended during the filling of the Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) from October 1 to 8.
COMELEC offices will be open from Mondays to Fridays, 8:00AM to 5:00PM, on October 11 to 29. Registration will also be open on October 30.
Earlier, the electoral body was adamant in extending the registration as it will affect the election timeline. However, various sectors including the House of Representatives and the Senate sought for the extension.
As of this writing, there are now about 63 million registered voters for the upcoming national and local elections.
