Eight barangays in the Province of Palawan were chosen by the national government to receive P20 million each for infrastructure projects from the P16.4-billion fund of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).

These barangays are Samariniana, Salogon, Saraza, and Amas in Brooke’s Point; Abaroan, Dumarao, and Magara in Roxas; and Kemdeng in San Vicente.

Infrastructure projects such as roads, school buildings, health stations, electrification, reconstruction, rehabilitation, livelihood, and more aim to deter the recruitment into the rebel group.

These barangays had undergone an “area clearing” through the deployment of the CSP of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and are awaiting for the funds to be released by the Department of Budget.
