In celebration of Nutrition Month, the Provincial Nutrition Office (PNO) organized a special program at the Provincial Jail on July 18, 2024, aimed at promoting health and wellness among jail personnel and Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).

The event featured separate lectures in the morning led by Registered Nutritionist-Dietician Cristilyn Atrero from the Provincial Department of Health Office (PDOHO). Atrero debunked common nutrition myths and emphasized the importance of balanced diets and appropriate food portions for maintaining good health.

Additionally, Trixia Roy, the Provincial Health Office’s Mental Health Coordinator, delivered a lecture on mental health, highlighting its crucial role in overall well-being.

Provincial Jail Management Division Warden PCol. Gabriel Lopez (Ret) expressed his gratitude for the initiative, stating, “We at the Provincial Jail Management Division are thankful and delighted that the PNO regularly visits us to ensure that the meals provided to the PDLs are nutritious.”

The afternoon session featured a Nutri-Bingo game organized by PNO staff, engaging the PDLs in a fun and educational activity. This program is part of the ongoing efforts to ensure the physical and mental health of those in the Provincial Jail.
