A recent success story hails from Brooke’s Point in Palawan, Philippines, where Roxanne B. Montejo, a provincial scholar, has achieved a significant milestone by passing the Medical Technologist Licensure Examination in August 2023. Roxanne, a local resident, received invaluable support from the Provincial Government through the SPS Alay sa Kabataan – Education Program for Palaweños.

This initiative’s primary purpose is to extend a helping hand to deserving students pursuing medical and related courses, such as a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology.

Maria Victoria B. Baaco, the Program Manager of SPS Alay sa Kabataan, proudly mentions that Roxanne belongs to the 3rd batch of BS in Medical Technology scholars sponsored by the Provincial Government. Notably, nine students from the inaugural batch, which commenced in 2022, have now successfully cleared the examination.

This scholarship program serves a dual purpose, aiming to fortify Palawan’s healthcare sector. Governor V. Dennis M. Socrates envisions a strengthened healthcare system in the province, thanks to the additional medical professionals like Roxanne, who are expected to soon serve in various provincial government-run hospitals scattered across different municipalities.

This move is expected to improve the healthcare landscape for the people of Palawan in the near future.
