A 26-year-old municipal worker was arrested Friday in a buy-bust operation in Barangay 4, Roxas, after allegedly continuing to sell illegal drugs despite previously surrendering to authorities under the government’s anti-narcotics campaign.
The suspect, known to authorities only by the alias “Mel,” was apprehended by joint operatives of the Roxas Municipal Police Station and the Palawan Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit. He is a resident of Purok Sambuton in Barangay Tres and reportedly employed at the Roxas Public Market.
Police said “Mel” had earlier surrendered under the PNP’s Oplan Tokhang initiative, but allegedly resumed drug-related activities. During the operation, law enforcement officers confiscated three small sachets containing suspected illegal drugs.
The suspect is now in police custody and is facing charges for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities have not released further details about the operation or the street value of the seized items, but noted that surveillance had been conducted prior to the arrest.
